Pantai Baron merupakan salah satu objek wisata pantai pertama di Gunungkidul yang terekspos publik. Perjalanan dari tempat parkir menuju pantai berjarak sekitar 50 meter. Disepanjang perjalanan tersebut akan disuguhi warung-warung makan dan penjual cinderamata khas pantai Baron.

Pasir di Pantai Baron berupa pasir berwarna cokelat yang lembut. Hamparan pasir yang panjang cocok untuk beristirahat dengan tikar maupun payung besar yang disewakan oleh penduduk sekitar. Di tempat wisata ini juga terdapat beberapa permainan untuk anak - anak berupa tempat pemancingan dan kereta mainan membuat anak-anak semakin betah berada di objek wisata ini.

Tempat wisata ini juga merupakan pantai nelayan, dimana setiap harinya ada banyak kapal pencari ikan yang berlalu lalang membawa ikan. Pengunjung dapat membeli ikan tersebut langsung dari nelayan yang baru saja turun dari kapal atau di TPI (Tempat Pelelangan Ikan) pantai Baron terletak di bagian Timur pantai.

Apabila tidak mau repot, pengunjung juga dapat membeli ikan di tempat penjualan ikan baik mentah maupun sudah dimasak. Tempatnya ada di sebelah selatan dari TPI dan berada di daerah pasir pantai.

Lokasi

Pantai Baron berada di ujung Timur deretan pantai di Kemadang, Tepus, Gunungkidul. Untuk mencapai lokasi dapat ditempuh dengan tiga jalur.

Jalur pertama melalui pusat kota dan melewati kecamatan Tanjungsari. Jalur ini tidak direkomendasikan untuk kendaraan besar karena jalannya yang berkelok-kelok dan naik turun dengan lebar jalan sekitar 4 meteran, sehingga akan kesulitan apabila berpapasan dengan bus.

Jalur kedua melalui kecamatan Tepus, jalur ini juga memiliki jalur berkelok meskipun tidak sebanyak jalur Tanjungsari. Namun pengemudi kendaraan besar diharapkan tetap berhati-hati ketika melalui jalur yang memiliki lebar jalan 4-5 meter ini.

Jalur ketiga adalah melalui kecamatan Paliyan dan tembus di JJLS, Jalur ini memiliki lebar antara 4-6 meter dengan kelokan yang minim dan hampir tidak ada tanjakan. Jalur ini sangat direkomendasikan untuk dilewati kendaraan besar, apalagi jalan ini terhubung dengan JJLS Gunungkidul.

Untuk parkir, di Pantai Baron ini memiliki lokasi parkir yang cukup luas yang bisa menampung motor hingga bus ukuran besar.
