Pantai Kukup terkenal akan keindahan pantai karang dengan pasir putihnya. Untuk mencapai pantai ini, pengunjung diharuskan berjalan sekitar 100 meter dari tempat parkir. Di sepanjang jalan tersebut, dijejali banyak warung-warung sederhana yang menjajakan "gorengan" laut, antara lain udang goreng, anak kepiting goreng, dan rumput laut goreng. Selain itu juga terdapat kios-kios penjual cinderamata khas Pantai Selatan Gunungkidul, ada pernak pernik hiasan rumah hingga pakaian dan kacamata.

Tiba di pantai, pengunjung akan disuguhi pantai putih dan terumbu karang yang menjadi habitat ikan hias. Penunjung dapat beristirahat di tepi pantai dengan tikar dan payung yang disewakan oleh penduduk sekitar.

Pengunjung juga dapat menikmati keindahan pantai dan lautan dari atas bukit yang menjorok ke lepas pantai. Jalan menuju puncak bukit tersebut sudah berupa tangga. Bila sedang beruntung, maka pengunjung dapat menikmati sunset dari atas bukit tersebut.

Jika pengunjung lelah, tersedia juga beberapa buah penginapan dengan harga terjangkau.

Lokasi

Pantai Kukup terletak di Kemadang, Tepus, Gunungkidul. Pantai Kukup berada di deretan panjang Pantai Selatan. Pantai ini berada di sebelah pantai Baron.

Jalur pertama melalui pusat kota dan melewati kecamatan Tanjungsari. Jalur ini tidak direkomendasikan untuk kendaraan besar karena jalannya yang berkelok-kelok dan naik turun dengan lebar jalan sekitar 4 meteran, sehingga akan kesulitan apabila berpapasan dengan bus.

Jalur kedua melalui kecamatan Tepus, jalur ini juga memiliki jalur berkelok meskipun tidak sebanyak jalur Tanjungsari. Namun pengemudi kendaraan besar diharapkan tetap berhati-hati ketika melalui jalur yang memiliki lebar jalan 4-5 meter ini.

Jalur ketiga adalah melalui kecamatan Paliyan dan tembus di JJLS, Jalur ini memiliki lebar antara 4-6 meter dengan kelokan yang minim dan hampir tidak ada tanjakan. Jalur ini sangat direkomendasikan untuk dilewati kendaraan besar, apalagi jalan ini terhubung dengan JJLS Gunungkidul.

Untuk parkir, di Pantai Kukup ini memiliki lokasi parkir yang cukup luas yang bisa menampung motor hingga bus ukuran besar.
